Magic, adventure and unforgettable family entertainment come together this winter as the South African State Theatre, in association with Ever After Stage Productions, proudly presents Aladdin, a spectacular children’s theatre production running from 30 July to 9 August 2026 at the Drama Theatre.

Based on one of the world’s most cherished stories, Aladdin is a vibrant theatrical experience that combines captivating storytelling, colourful costumes, breathtaking choreography, enchanting music and spectacular stage magic to create an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.

Perfect for families, schools and theatre lovers, this production celebrates courage, kindness, friendship and the belief that dreams can become reality.

At the heart of the story is Aladdin, a kind-hearted young man whose ordinary life is anything but peaceful. Living with his eccentric mother, Twankey, and his mischievous, thieving brothers, chaos seems to follow him wherever he goes. However, everything changes when he discovers a mysterious magical lamp hidden from the world.

From within the lamp emerges the extravagant and unforgettable Genie, a magical companion unlike any other. With unlimited charm, humour and extraordinary powers, the Genie offers Aladdin three wishes that could change his life forever.

As Aladdin embarks on an incredible journey filled with wonder and possibility, he falls deeply in love with the beautiful Princess. But standing between him and his dreams is a wicked sorcerer whose sinister plans threaten to destroy everything Aladdin holds dear.

What follows is an exhilarating adventure filled with laughter, magic, music, unexpected twists and unforgettable characters, reminding audiences that true greatness comes not from wealth or power, but from honesty, courage and a good heart.

Under the direction of Danielle Botha, Aladdin has been brought to life by a passionate creative team dedicated to delivering a world-class theatrical experience. The production combines dazzling visual effects, energetic choreography and memorable musical moments to transport audiences into a magical kingdom where anything is possible.
