Africa Day 2026 takes over Braamfontein

Africa Day

Joburg Theatre, in association with BraamBID, is excited to announce its first Africa Day event.

This special occasion brings people together to enjoy the spirit of Africa in the heart of Johannesburg. Families, friends, students, and communities are invited to embrace African pride, heritage, diversity, and togetherness.

Get ready for a fun-filled afternoon of music, culture, food, dance, and African unity as the LoveBraam Community, in partnership with Joburg Theatre, presents Africa Day on Friday, 29 May 2026, from 12:00 to 16:00.

The day will begin at Eland Square, where guests will be welcomed by ushers and guided on a 12-minute walk to the Theatre Plaza Precinct, accompanied by a live band bringing energy and excitement through the streets of Braamfontein.

Honouring African culture and pride, the entertainment line-up will feature live performances, an African dance competition, and music from across the continent. The Saeed Foundation, its vibrant drum majorette performances, will bring vibrant energy to the event, while the National School of the Arts will captivate audiences with their unique voices and musical talent. Patrons can also look forward to performances by songstress Thalitha, known for her gospel and Afro-house music. Hailing from Nigeria, Afrobeat headliner SaxOk will deliver an unforgettable performance, with DJ Nickita keeping the atmosphere alive on the decks throughout the day.

Guests will have the opportunity to mingle around Theatre Plaza while enjoying African food, crafts, and cultural experiences in a safe and secure environment with security on site.

Come enjoy good food, great music, dancing, and a beautiful spirit of togetherness. Whether you are attending for the performances, food, or fashion, the atmosphere promises something for everyone to enjoy.

Africa Day is more than an event; it is about bringing people together and embracing the beauty of cultures across the continent. The Programme will feature Nigerian music, live performances, and local South African talent, highlighting the diverse cultures, energy, and creativity that make Africa unique. Organizations such as the Saeed Foundation and the National School of the Arts will add to the richness and experience of the day.

Do not miss the Friday everyone will be talking about! One Africa, One Unforgettable Experience.
