STEAM Festival Revision Game Show Season 2 launches at the South African State Theatre with an energetic opening game.
The highly anticipated STEAM Festival Revision Game Show Season 2 officially kicked off on 13 March 2026 at the South African State Theatre with an exciting opening game between Uniculucus Tutorial Centre (UTC) and Pretoria Institute of Learning (PIL). The dynamic event marked the beginning of another season dedicated to celebrating youth talent, creativity and educational engagement through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).
The day began with the STEAM Festival team visiting Pretoria Institute of Learning earlier in the morning to capture the excitement and preparations of the learners ahead of the competition. The action then moved to the South African State Theatre where learners, educators and supporters gathered for the official games which commenced at 13:00.
Hosted by Luke Osagie and Pako Tong, the event was filled with vibrant energy as learners competed in five exciting categories: acting, singing, dancing, skipping rope and stone tossing. The spirited competition highlighted the creativity, confidence and teamwork of participating learners.
Uniculucus Tutorial Centre emerged as the overall winners of the day, securing an impressive 11 gold medals and 6 silver medals. Pretoria Institute of Learning also delivered a commendable performance, earning 7 gold medals and 10 silver medals in a competitive and entertaining contest.
The event opened with a captivating performance by Letlhlogonolo Mahlangu from St Aquinas College, who performed her song titled Generic Code accompanied by its music video before delivering a live performance on stage. She was joined by Soulful Kay, a former Idols SA contestant, whose presence added further excitement to the event.
Speaking after the competition, the captain of the UTC team expressed pride in the team’s achievement.
“We worked hard to prepare for this moment, and it is incredibly rewarding to see our efforts come together on stage,” the captain said.
Founder of the STEAM Festival, Chris Mocks, expressed his enthusiasm for the success of the opening event.
“It was an incredible day, and we are proud to see learners engaging with both creativity and critical thinking. The STEAM Festival is about creating opportunities for young people to express themselves while strengthening their confidence and curiosity in learning,” he said.
The next STEAM Festival Revision Game Show will take place on 20 March 2026 at the South African State Theatre, featuring a new match-up between St Aquinas College and Future Leaders Institute. Gates will open at 11:00 with the games scheduled to begin at 13:00.
The STEAM Festival Revision Game Show is made possible through the support of Boston City Campus and Tshebedisano Burial Society, in partnership with the South African State Theatre.
