THE SOUTH AFRICAN STATE THEATRE PRESENTS THE JUNGLE BOOK

The South African State Theatre proudly invites audiences of all ages to experience the magic, adventure, and wonder of The Jungle Book, presented by VR Theatrical from 14 to 27 September 2026 at the Drama Theatre in Pretoria.

Based on Rudyard Kipling’s beloved classic, The Jungle Book is a colourful and imaginative musical adaptation packed with memorable characters, playful music, and dynamic physical storytelling. The production transports audiences into Mowgli’s extraordinary world as he journeys through the jungle alongside Baloo, Bagheera, Kaa, and a host of unforgettable animal companions.

Designed especially for families and school audiences, the production celebrates themes of courage, friendship, identity, and belonging while offering an exciting theatrical experience filled with humour, movement, music, and imagination.

Directed and adapted by Daniel Butcher-Geddes, the production embraces a vibrant theatrical language where storytelling and creativity transform the stage into a living jungle. Supported by an exceptional creative team, including acclaimed composer and Musical Director Wessel Odendaal, The Jungle Book promises audiences a heartwarming and visually engaging production that captures the spirit of adventure and discovery.

The talented cast features Noluthando Mathebula as Mowgli, Jordyn Schaefer as Kaa, Siya Makakane as Bagheera, John Tsenoli as Monkey King/Akela, and Grant Towers as Baloo, bringing Kipling’s timeless characters to life with energy and charm.
