The National School of the Arts (NSA) has a vacancy for a part-time GDE drama teacher to commence on 2 February 2026.

The successful applicant must be equipped to teach Dramatic Arts (CAPS) from Grade 8 – 12 with a special focus on the Theatre Technical curriculum.

Minimum Qualification: Bachelor of Arts (Drama) or any relevant REQV13 qualification with a PGCE. All applicants must be SACE registered or able to secure the relevant SACE certification. A professional career and previous teaching experience will be an added advantage.

The successful candidate should be a good team player, willing to work outside of regular school hours and be an enthusiastic participant in the school’s cultural programme. Passion, patience, and an ability to motivate and inspire, alongside a firm grip on discipline, will see the incumbent thriving in the specialist art school environment.

With a history that spans 50 years, the National School of the Arts is South Africa’s oldest public- funded School of Specialisation in Performing and Creative Arts. Situated in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, the NSA is a Gauteng Department of Education School.
