Soweto Theatre hosts historic concert
Soweto Theatre will host a historic Youth Day Commemoration to honour the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of the generation of 1976. Marking exactly 50 years since the Soweto Uprising, the event will bridge history, culture, and contemporary youth expression.
Key Highlights:
• Sam Nzima Legacy Screening: A special film screening celebrating the legendary photojournalist who captured the iconic global symbol of the struggle, the photograph of Hector Pieterson.
• Sarafina! Tribute: A stirring performance paying homage to the globally acclaimed musical.
• Youth Showcases: Performances by Gauteng’s leading youth arts institutions, including the Morris Isaacson Centre for Music, Sibikwa Arts Centre, and Letsibogo Girls Secondary School.
• Visuals & Audio: Vibrant youth music, dance, storytelling, and an active youth craft and food market.
