The South African State Theatre presents “Khanya and Her Golden Dream” as part of the annual Youth Expressions Festival.
The South African State Theatre is proud to announce its production, “Khanya and Her Golden Dream,” a captivating drama that explores the journey of a young girl and her family as they move to the City of Gold. This engaging show will run from May 15 to 25 at the Malombo Theatre as part of the Annual Youth Expressions Festival.
“Khanya and Her Golden Dream” tells the story of young Khanya and her family who move to the City of Gold. Much to her disappointment, what she had imagined it to be is not what it really is. One night, she wishes upon a star to be transported to the real City of Gold. There, she meets friends who teach her how to be the change she wishes to see in the world.

About the Director: Sibahle Mabaso is an Instructional Designer and theatre-maker based in Bloemfontein. She has written and directed several works, including “Were Does the Sun Wait Before It Rises?” and “In Transit.” Mabaso’s work has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations, including Best Marketing and Best Community Engagement at Teksmark 2023, and a nomination for Best Emerging Artist.
