Both Worlds Pictures receives 13 SAFTA Nominations
Both Worlds Pictures is proud to announce 13 nominations at the 19th South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), across three productions — placing the company 7th among 117 nominated production houses.
The Morning After leads with 7 nominations including Best TV Comedy. Recipes for Love and Murder Season 2 received 4 nominations including Best Supporting Actress in a TV Drama for Robyn Scott. Die Nuusmakers earned 2 nominations including Best Scriptwriting in a TV Drama.
These nominations are a testament to the talent and dedication of every cast and crew member who worked on these productions. From the writing rooms to the sets, from post-production suites to costume departments — this recognition belongs to them.
We are deeply grateful to our commissioning and distribution partners: Prime Video, SWR (ARD), Federation and Paradoxal for The Morning After; Acorn (AMC Networks), M-Net (MultiChoice — a Canal+ company), Global Screen (a Vuelta Group company) and Paradoxal for Recipes for Love and Murder; and kykNET (MultiChoice — a Canal+ company) for Die Nuusmakers.
This recognition comes at a challenging time for our industry. The prolonged absence of the DTIC production incentive continues to place enormous strain on production companies, crews and the broader ecosystem that sustains South African storytelling. Many talented professionals are out of work. Many worthy projects remain unmade. We share this moment with the wider industry in mind, and with the hope that meaningful support for our sector will be restored.
To everyone who contributed to these three shows — congratulations and thank you.
