Liewe Heksie at The Baxter

Cara Roberts as Liewe Heksie.

Liewe Heksie – Blommeland’s beloved little witch! – at The Baxter for a Spring Season.

Chaos reigns in Blommeland! King Rosekrans has disappeared and Blommie Kabouter cannot find him anywhere! Poor old Kwaatjie Kabouter has been tasked with teaching Liewe Heksie to read while guarding the Silver Rose, for it has come to light that the evil Yellow Witch has a cunning plan to steal the Silver Rose and kill off all the flowers in Blommeland. We’re seriously over the moon to bring the iconic little witch Liewe Heksie to the Golden Arrow Studio at The Baxter. Liewe Heksie is played by the award-winning actress, Cara Roberts; and the young and upcoming cabaret artist, Daniel Anderson stars as Blommie Kabouter. There is a transformation scene, a little song, a little dance and a little magic! We are pulling out all the stops to celebrate the story of Liewe Heksie.

In a radio interview the day before her 80th birthday author Verna Vels described the Liewe Heksie character as “a witch who was a little bit stupid,” created to make children laugh, instead of scaring them. “Heksie was really not written to educate children, but to make them laugh.”

Times are tough, spirits are low, and young children are in dire need of hope and joy. Come and meet all your beloved characters in your favourite Liewe Heksie story at The Baxter Golden Arrow Studio.
