NCT announces auditions for the new youth choir
We are looking for beautiful voices and eager singers aged between 13 and 17 years, to become part of this exciting new venture.
Johannesburg is short of children’s choirs, and we aim to become an accomplished addition to the music performance landscape. If you can sing but have not had an opportunity to do so regularly and in a formal but fun setting, we invite you to audition.
We aim to create a prestigious, polished choir; a mix of the Ndlovu Youth Choir meets Stellenbosch University Choir, the repertoire drawing from a mix of genres: musical theatre to pop and classical-with-a-twist. Rehearsals will include vocal training and repertoire preparation. The ability to read music is helpful but not essential. Candidates will pay a term fee of R1500.00 and must commit to attending weekly rehearsals. These will be on Saturdays from 12:30.
The choir will be under the Directorship of Christine Ludwig, who has had over twenty years of experience working with choirs, ensembles and solo singers. A few of her most notable projects have been as Lead Music Expert and Vocal Coach on the award-winning show Clash of the Choirs SA, where she trained 120 voices, and alongside the country’s most influential musicians, she created choral arrangements for six choirs. She has worked with the internationally renowned cast of Africa Umoja, preparing them for their American tour. Most recently, in the role of Choirmaster, she led an un-auditioned high-school choir to win the awards: the Episode Champions, and Best Newcomers on kykNET’s television choral competition Sing in Harmonie. Currently she coaches Naledi and SAMA winning musical theatre performers and top SA recording artists at her vocal training studio.
Auditions: Saturday, 17 April 2021.
E-mail or phone Cindy to book your place (email@example.com or 011 484 1584).
Rehearsals begin on Saturday, 19 June 2021, 12:30 – 14:30
Candidates must prepare a verse and chorus of their favourite song to present for the audition.
