Back-to-nature adventure in the heart of the city
If you are in Johannesburg, can’t get away for Christmas and ache for the wide-open spaces, there is a bushveld retreat right on your doorstep.
Melville Koppies Nature Reserve, a Joburg Heritage site, is open every Sunday (except December 27) from 08:00 to 11:30. Trails are well marked and lead up and down the hills, through forested and open areas.
You can discover it at your leisure. It is easy to keep safe social distancing from other small groups as you explore this pristine reserve in the middle of Joburg. R80 per adult and R40 per child for the maintenance of the Koppies.
Optional guided tours are available at no extra cost. Park opposite the entrance in Judith Road, Emmarentia at Marks Park Sports Club. Details www.mk.org.za
